Recommended tips for a more secure home
More and more reports are coming in about vehicle crime and theft from vehicles in the north San Antonio neighborhoods. Keeping vehicles locked and any valuables out of site was the number one thing you can do to minimize theft in the past. Lately, criminals have become more clever and now use devices that can detect electronics giving off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals. Once these signals are detected, the individual knows there are electronics inside the car and will break in even if valuable electronics are out of site.
After locking the vehicle and keeping valuables out of site, the next step to prevent theft is to install proper lighting around the driveway. Motion activated lighting can be installed with minimal effort with new battery powered lighting options. Keeping darker areas well lit can deter future criminals.
Locked doors and well-lit driveways do not always stop the most persistent criminals. Installing security cameras is the best option for not only deterring the criminal but also collecting video evidence. The first question usually asked by authorities after a reported crime is if there is any video evidence – without video evidence it becomes increasingly difficult to catch a criminal.
